Verdict
Verdict at a glance
- The operator is the company named in the casino's footer and terms. The brand name isn't the operator.
- The Gambling Commission register confirms the operator by licence number or business name (as of October 2026).
- The register's domain list shows whether a brand is active, inactive or white label.
- The register doesn't name a parent company. Companies House covers UK-registered owners only.
- Single pick: start with the licence number in the footer, then confirm it on the register.
Operator named on the casino's own site
UK-licensed casinos display a licence number and the licence holder's name in the site footer (Gambling Commission licence conditions, verify against live terms). The terms and conditions repeat the company name in a line such as "operated by", and the same page names the complaints route.
The casino's own site is a lead and not proof. A footer is written by the operator, so the register is the primary source for any ownership claim. Footer text that doesn't match the register is a finding in itself.
Register tabs
The Gambling Commission public register holds 1 page per licence holder, with 4 tabs that matter. Jupiter Gaming Limited shows the format.
| Register tab | What it shows | Jupiter Gaming Limited |
|---|---|---|
| Licence summary | Licence holder, account number, licence numbers, status, activities | Account 67098, licence 067098-R-341149-003, effective 28 August 2025 |
| Trading names | Names the licence holder uses | 3 names, all inactive |
| Domain names | Web addresses covered | 7 active, 3 inactive |
| Regulatory actions | Penalties and warnings | 0 recorded |
Source: Gambling Commission register, as of 7 October 2026. The domain tab answers the practical question. A casino domain that doesn't appear against the licence holder isn't covered by that licence.
Domain classifications
The register sorts domains into 3 groups: active, inactive and white label. Skill On Net Limited lists 61 domains. 40 are active, 2 are inactive and 19 are white label. Anakatech Interactive Limited lists 10 domains, with 3 active and 7 white label (Gambling Commission register, as of 7 October 2026).
The labels are the register's own classification. Inference: a white label domain runs on the licence holder's licence while a partner sets the brand's offer. Terms, support and payment methods need a brand-level check. Verify against live terms.
Licence status and missing licences
Status decides whether a brand is covered at all. Playbook Gaming Limited surrendered all 6 licences on 19 November 2025, and the register lists its 7 domains as inactive. A £250,000 financial penalty dated 10 November 2025 sits on the same record (Gambling Commission register). Brands on those domains hold no UK licence under that operator.
Some operators hold no UK licence. Ryker B.V. is a Curaçao company, and no Gambling Commission licence is surfaced for it (AlterPlay, 2 June 2026). GAMSTOP covers UK-licensed operators only, so a registration doesn't extend to its brands. Not surfaced from the sources checked: a successor operator for the Playbook Gaming domains.
Owner behind the operator
The register names the licence holder and stops there. Companies House lists persons with significant control for UK-registered companies, which shows who owns a UK operator. Overseas operators need the registry of their home country. Jupiter Gaming Limited is Jersey-registered (European Gaming, 29 June 2026), and Skill On Net Limited has a head office in Limassol, Cyprus (Gambling Commission register).
A parent company sits behind many entities of this kind. Not surfaced from the register or the press reports checked: a parent for either. Each operator profile on this site records the gap and the check date.
Checking sequence
- Copy the company name and licence number from the casino footer.
- Search the number on the Gambling Commission public register.
- Read the licence summary for status, activities and effective dates.
- Open the domain tab and confirm the casino's web address appears.
- Note the domain label: active, inactive or white label.
- Search the company on Companies House, or on the overseas registry, for ownership filings.
- Record the check date and keep a screenshot.
Limits of the check
- The register shows the licence holder and not the ultimate owner.
- Footers and terms change without notice, so each finding carries its date.
- A white label label isn't defined by the register beyond its own heading.
- Overseas registries differ in what they publish.
Final verdict
The footer gives the lead, the register gives the answer and Companies House gives the owner where a UK filing exists. That sequence covers all 3 sources in 7 steps. A brand that fails step 4 is outside the licence holder's coverage, and a brand that fails step 2 needs a different regulator's check.
The Playbook Gaming operator profile and the SkillOnNet operator profile apply the sequence to 2 real cases. For the terms used above, see Casino groups and white labels explained. The How we review page sets out the sources behind every profile.
